How we build a new concrete pool deck
A deck that lasts is mostly decided before the finish goes on. This is the sequence we follow on a new pour.
1. Layout and permits
We measure, mark the deck footprint, and plan the slope and drainage. We confirm with you whether your city or county requires a permit for the work, and handle it when it does.
2. Demolition and base prep
Old concrete is broken out and hauled away. The base is graded and compacted, which matters on Tampa's sandy soil, where a poorly prepared base is a common cause of later settling.
3. Forms, reinforcement, and joints
Forms set the edges and slope. Reinforcement goes in, and we plan control joints to guide where the concrete cracks, plus an expansion joint where the deck meets the pool coping.

Do I need a new pool deck, or can mine be resurfaced?
If the slab is stable and mostly in one piece, resurfacing is usually the better value. New concrete makes sense when the slab is heaved, sunken, or broken into loose sections, when drainage cannot be fixed any other way, or when you are adding deck area. An on-site inspection tells you which.
How long does a new concrete pool deck take?
It depends on the size of the deck, how much demolition is involved, permits, and the finish you choose. The concrete also needs time to cure before decorative coatings and sealer go on. We give you a schedule after the on-site visit.
